Lucky Joy Restaurant is a straightforward spot for those craving classic Hong Kong style fast food in Richmond. Located along Thorpe Road, it serves up a broad variety of Cantonese dishes that cater to both seafood lovers and fans of hearty rice and noodle plates. The atmosphere leans toward simple and practical—think clean lines, no-frills seating, and an old-school Hong Kong diner vibe that reflects its focus on food over fancy decor.

The menu covers staple favorites like sweet and sour pork, pan-fried noodles with tender beef (干炒牛河), and a range of seafood offerings including fried squid and garlic chili lobster. Portion sizes are generous, making it a good choice for groups or families wanting to sample different dishes. The restaurant is often busiest during peak meal times, so visiting on weekday off-hours can provide a quieter experience and slightly better-paced service.

Expect the food to arrive warm rather than piping hot, which fits the casual, mom-and-pop style here. Flavors stick to familiar territory—balanced but sometimes noticeably salty, especially in traditional dishes. Drinks like lemon tea stand out as a local favorite on the menu, pairing well with the food's straightforward style.

Those who appreciate no-pretenses dining with solid, familiar Cantonese fare will find Lucky Joy Restaurant suits their needs especially well. It’s a reliable spot for a satisfying meal without breaking the budget, but diners seeking a polished restaurant experience or subtle culinary creativity might find it a bit rough around the edges. Overall, this place works best for folks after a quick, filling meal with authentic flavor in a laid-back setting.

Very family style, consistently above average, though not gourmet, Hong Kong style food that's still very delicious. Will leave you happy. Lots of options to choose from including extensive seafood.

Price is good, portion is good. my girl has the seafood noodles with soup, she got some sand crumbs due to the mussel shells. The cold lemon tea is the best.

An established traditional Cantonese style restaurant with typical service . The food is fair . The daily soup was lukewarm warm at best. The bathroom was also typical, not clean for a mom and pop restaurant. The food was also warm and not hot. The price point is Cheap to reasonable with big portions. I suggest coming during off hours, not the weekend. The food and service should be much better during the weekdays since when busy, it may not be the best. Check out the specials and photos.

Typical style Hong Kong food. The food is very salty and the service is not great. The lobster was delicious and tasted reasonably fresh. Milk tea is watered down and cheap quality.

Tasty Hong Kong style fried noodles, lemon tea n milk tea. Atmosphere is simple n clean, old hong kong style. Not an issue for me as long as food is good.
